Leeds Branch Standard is dedicated

Part of the annual Regimental Service in St Cuthbert's Chapel, York Minster on 22nd October 2005 was the Dedication of a new Standard for the Leeds Branch of YVRA. This was quite a "first" for the Regiment, the Association and, of course, for Leeds Branch. Those present also saw and heard our Patron, Dr Ingrid Roscoe, Lord-Lieutenant for West Yorkshire, reading the first lesson.

Col. C Tattersall TD DL, President of the Regimental Association, asked the Padre, Revd Jim Butterworth to bless and dedicate the new Standard.

"Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation
For you call men and women
To live together in community
And to form association for the sake of comradeship.
By your blessing
May this standard be a symbol of unity and friendship
To those who assemblein the name it bears:
May they live in peace and harmony,
May they walk in peace and justice,
May they know your love in their hearts,
And finally come to the fullness of eternal life,
Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen"

It is difficult to imagine a finer start for a new Standard!

Here, Standard Bearer and Leeds Branch Secretary are joined by our Patron and President.

Afterwards, over a hundred members and guests went to Worsley Barracks and enjoyed an excellent buffet, and a beer!

Our Patron and President spoke to most, if not all, of the members present.
