Dear all it is with great sadness that I post this obituary of my platoon commander, who I served under in the 70’s while he was with E. Coy 1 York’s. He was a active member of the sealed knot society at this time and may a cold ride in the back of 4 tonners was spent listening to his tales which made the time pass so quickly, he was a go getter, one of a kind, I am sorry he has gone so early and will be remembered and missed by his old platoon members. It is with the deepest regret that I have to inform you of the death Mr. Eric Ellison a former member of C Company the 1st Battalion Yorkshire Volunteers for many years. Eric’s funeral took place on 17th July 2008 and was attended by members of the Y.V.R.A. and the Duke of Wellingtons Regiment along with members of the Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffalos of which he had been a member since 1961 and remained an active member until the the day he died. Eric also saw regular service as a cook with the RAF Regiment.
