Colonel Chris joined the TA in the early 1970s in Hull with B Company, 2nd Battalion The Yorkshire Volunteers, serving in Londesborough Barracks, and OC of the Mortar Platoon in Beverley before taking up command appointments. With the amalgamation of the TA Regiments, he was appointed Commanding Officer of the 3rd Battalion, The Prince of Wales’s Own Regiment of Yorkshire (Yorkshire Volunteers) with his HQ at Worsley Barracks, York in the 1990’s. He also served at HQ 15 (NE) Bde as Colonel Cadets.

Following command he joined Humberside and South Yorkshire Army Cadet Force as Deputy Commandant and continued to serve in many appointments over the years. He was also until recently an active member of the Cadet Forces Commissioning Board and course director of the Initial Officer Training Team.

The funeral service took place at Haltemprice Crematorium, Main Street, Hull HU10 6DS on Tuesday 4th September at 12.30.
